Purisima: Just a regular house, not a mansion

Philippine National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima on Thursday insisted that the property he acquired in Nueva Ecija is not a mansion but just an "ordinary" house.

During a press conference, Purisima also pointed out that there was nothing irregular in buying the 4.7-hectare property worth P3.7 million in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

"Hindi s'ya mansyon kundi ordinaryong bahay lang na siyang in-improve namin," he said.

He also said that he will not betray the trust and confidence of President Benigno Aquino III.

Purisima is now facing two separate plunder and graft charges before the Office of the Ombudsman allegedly for his ill-gotten wealth and the construction of the so-called White House inside the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.

During a Senate hearing, the PNP chief said the reforms and policy changes he instituted in the PNP have triggered the smear campaign against him.

He added that he will not give into the pressure by his critics and will stay with the PNP.
