Why Sueselbeck was stopped at airport

MANILA - The Bureau of Immigration on Monday explained why it prevented the German fiance of the slain transgender woman Jennifer Laude from leaving the country on Sunday night.

Marc Sueselbeck faces charges of being an undesirable alien for breaching security in Camp Aguinaldo and for assaulting one of the guards there.

"What we did to Mr. Sueselbeck is that we gave him due process, such that he will be given a chance to really say I am not undesirable, please do not include me in the blacklist because I still want to go back here to the Philippines," Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison told ANC.

"The punishment of a blacklist is so harsh that if we just allowed Mr. Sueselbeck to leave yesterday without answering for his deportation charge, that will be a great disservice to him and to all other foreign nationals," he said.

Mison also said Sueselbeck is not yet overstaying, and the fact that Sueselbeck is grieving, will be taken into consideration in his deportation case.
