Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Presidential frontrunner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has had enough of his bank account issue.
On Saturday (April 30), Duterte said he will file charges against vice presidential candidate Sen. Antonio Trillanes for making the former's bank account public.
Trillanes has accused Duterte of having around P211 million in his joint account with daughter Sara Duterte in the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Julia Vargas branch in Pasig City.
Duterte explained he was already divorced to his wife when he opened the account. That is why he deliberately included his daughter in the bank account so that somebody could withdraw the money in case something happens to him.
"Kung anuman ang mangyari sa akin, gago ka Trillanes, merong taong makapag-withdraw at least may makapagbayad man lang sa kabaong o ng cremation."
[Translation: "You're a jerk, Trillanes. The money is there so that, if something happens to me, there will at least be someone who can withdraw and pay for my casket or cremation."]
The country's bank secrecy law states that all deposits of whatever nature with banks or banking institutions "may not be examined, inquired or looked into by any person, government official, bureau or office, except upon written permission of the depositor, or in cases of impeachment, or upon order of a competent court in cases of bribery or dereliction of duty of public officials, or in cases where the money deposited or invested is the subject matter of the litigation."
In addition, Duterte added that he will also file a perjury case against Trillanes. For that to happen, the mayor said he wants Trillanes to execute an affidavit on his accusations first.
During a campaign concert at Bonifacio Global City Saturday night, Duterte cursed and mocked Trillanes, in front of around 12,000 of the mayor's supporters.
"Kita mo maglakad 'yan? Ganito: parang may mansanas sa kilikili. Tang***ng yabang."
[Translation: "Have you seen him walk? It looks like there are apples in in his armpits. Son of a whore, he's so boastful."]
The mayor questioned Trillanes' credibility and accused the senator of waging war against his people.
"You are not a soldier of fortune, you are a soldier of misfortune. Pakagago mo. Nagrebelde ka, sinayang mo ang pera ng gobyerno, you waged war against your people. Sinira mo pa ang Peninsula [Manila] hanggang hindi mo binayaran."
